ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-V) — A former high school athlete who detectives believe “got in with a bad crowd” has been named this week’s Fugitive of the Week.
Avontai C. Bailey, 18, is wanted for burglary and grand larceny. Sheriff’s warrant unit detectives say the burlgary happened at the Springfield Garden Apartments on Caton Drive in DeWitt on April 29th. An apartment door was kicked in. Money, sneakers and a gaming system were stolen.
“He was an athlete when he was going to high school. Now he’s gotten in with a bad crowd. Before his life becomes a complete mess, it would probably behoove him to get himself in the justice system and take care of this particular incident, ” said Warrant Unit Supervisor, Sgt. Michael Norton.
In June of this year, a County Grand Jury indicted Bailey for the burglary and an indictment warrant was signed by County Court Judge Matt Doran.
