UPDATE: Nehemiah Jones in custody after anonymous tip leads authorities to his location

On The Lookout - Fugitive of the Week

UPDATE: Nehemiah Jones is in police custody. The Syracuse Police Warrant Squad took Jones into custody Tuesday morning after an anonymous tip led authorities to his location.

ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — When Nehemiah Jones, 24, got out of jail in July, he listed the Rescue Mission as his address.

“Back in early August, some detectives from our sex offender unit went to the Rescue Mission, where they learned Mr. Jones had left on the first and never returned,” Sgt. Mike Smith said.

A low risk, level one sex offender, he’s required to report a change in address.  A felony failure to report warrant is now being added to a rap sheet that lists twenty arrests.

“Ten of them for felonies,” Smith said. “He’s had weapons charges, drug charges, criminal contempt charges. He’s been mainly on the southside of the city. We haven’t been able to locate him. Family doesn’t seem to know where he is, so we’re asking for the public’s help.

Nehemiah Jones is 6’2” and 175 pounds. If you know where he is, give the Syracuse Police Warrant Squad a call at (315) 442-5230.
