SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Our Cold Case series continues with a closer look at the murder of Kain Gist.
Gist was shot and killed in the 300 block of Bruce Street on May 28th, 2005 while attending a graduation party for Henninger High School basketball superstar Andray Blatche. Syracuse Police say there were several people at the party, including friends and family of Gist, who have been uncooperative with the investigation to date.
"We don't have enough to make an arrest, but we're very very close," says Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick, who urges any witnesses to come forward. "To give some comfort to people, it turns out to be, this individual is incarcerated right now, on other charges, so it's not like he's going to be able to hurt you."
Fitzpatrick says Gist was executed and his cause of death was a bullet wound to the back.
