SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Onondaga County Sheriff’s Warrants unit detectives are asking for your helping in finding Derrick Robertston, 29, who was featured on NewsChannel 9 in February 2019, as one of Onondaga County’s 9 Most wanted fugitives. Robertson is now wanted for two felony arrest warrants.
The first warrant is for (2) counts of Criminal Contempt 1st degree, Assault in the 2nd degree, Attempted Assault in the 2nd degree and (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, and the second is for Grand Larceny in the 4th degree.
In November 2018, detectives say Robertson’s ex-girlfriend reported to the Sheriff’s Office that Robertson struck her in the back of the head with a barstool after she told him she wanted to end their relationship. He then allegedly grabbed her by the arms and back of the neck, slapped her face and stole her car. Later that evening, as the victim was moving Mr. Robertson’s belongings to a storage area, sheriff’s detectives say he returned to the apartment and became enraged once again, and kicked her head. All of this violated an Order of Protection previously issued by Syracuse City Court, according to sheriff’s detectives.
Sheriff’s Warrant Unit Supervisor, Sgt. Mike Norton, says two days later, Robertson contacted the same victim and wanted to retrieve his belongings. When he got to her apartment, Norton says they argued and he grabbed the keys to her car and left in the vehicle. According to the victim, they later spoke on the phone and he agreed to return her car, if she returned his belongings. She packed those belongings into a rented van and met him. The victims says Robertson gave her the car keys in exchange for his belongings in the van, and informed her the car was parked in a Liverpool location. The victim says when she went to that location, the car was not there.
Robertson also has two City Court warrants for Possessing Marijuana and Violating the City’s Noise Ordinance.
Numerous addresses and tips were check and detectives are not sure if Robertson is still in the area.
