CSEA local president Kathy Zabinski announced that the union and Onondaga County have reached a tentative contract agreement.

The tentative agreement provides 2 percent raises for CSEA members for each of the four years it will be effective.

Employee health benefit contributions will gradually increase from 11.12 percent in 2016 to 14 percent in 2017. It will increase to 16 percent in 2018 and 18 percent in 2019.

In 2020, the rate will be 20 percent for grades 9-15 and will stay at 18 percent for grades 1-8.

“It is important that we have a long term contract in place for the CSEA that balances the tremendous work their members do and the best interests of the taxpayer,” said Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney. “The tentative agreement reached with the CSEA leadership accomplishes both goals and we thank them for working intensively with us on a very fair plan.”

The contract agreement would be in effect from 2016-2019.

“The CSEA negotiation team worked over a five day period with the County to reach a tentative agreement. Wages and Health Insurance were among the several items discussed and agreed upon, taking into consideration the lower paygrades ability to pay,” said CSEA Local 834 President Kathy Zabinski.

The terms and language of the agreement are being finalized and will be presented to the membership beginning on Aug. 8.

The tentative date for the membership vote is Sept. 8.
