The first meeting of the Onondaga County Shared Services panel is set to take place in less than one week, despite nearly two dozen town supervisors and mayors calling the requirement “unrealistic.”
On Wednesday, 23 local leaders held a press conference, saying the timeline to develop a plan required by the Governor is too short.
The deadline to finish a draft plan is Aug. 1, with a panel vote on Sept. 15.
Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney sent a letter to each town supervisor and mayor in the county inviting them to the panel on Thursday, June 1.
The panel will begin at 5 p.m. at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
Each leader was asked to bring a list of services they already share, and top state mandates affecting their budgets.
