SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A Syracuse police officer was sent to the hospital after he was allegedly attacked while on duty.
Syracuse Police say detective Duane Rood was at Burnet Park Pool Wednesday evening when employees asked him to help remove a child who was acting unruly. Police say the boy and his father assaulted rood, with the child allegedly punching him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, injuring his arm.
Police say a number of other individuals jumped in.
The child’s father, Daniel Fontanez, is facing a number of charges, including resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, but additional charges may be filed.
