Two Seneca County neighbors who were romantically involved are facing charges in connection with the rape of two young girls.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office charged 46-year-old James Mahaney of Odell Road in the town of Junius with a host of criminal sex charges, including:
– 1 count of first-degree rape
– 3 counts of predatory sexual assault
– 2 counts of first-degree criminal sex act
– 2 counts of first-degree sexual abuse
The Sheriff’s Office also arrested 32-year-old Jacqueline Cady of Odell Road, and charged her with endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly allowing Mahaney access to the children.
Investigators believe the abuse of the children – who were both under the age of 7 – persisted from Jan. 2, 2017 through March 7, 2017.
Cady was arraigned in Town of Junius Court and taken to the Seneca County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail or $6,000 bond.
She is scheduled to return to court on March 16.
Mahaney was arraigned in Town of Junius Court and jailed without bail.
He is scheduled to return to court on March 15.
An order of protection was issued for both victims and also a third child.
The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the case, and they are concerned that there may be other victims.
