There’s a great way for families in need and seniors to get free fruits and vegetables from New York farmer’s markets.
All you have to do is apply at your county Health Department. The state’s Farmers Market Nutrition Program offers checks to women, infants, children and seniors that can be spent at about 77 markets across New York.
The total amount of produce ranging from $20 to $24.
You can sign up at the Onondaga, Oswego and Tompkins County health departments as well as Community Action Program locations in Oneida, Utica and Cortland.
