BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – An Ohio man was arrested in Erie County this week after State Police say he kidnapped a mother and her five kids.
On April 21, State Police were told to be on the lookout for a white minivan with Ohio license plates.
Troopers came across a vehicle matching that description and plate number — they then pulled the vehicle over on the I-90 at the Cleveland Drive exit in Cheektowaga, about 15 minutes east of Buffalo.
The driver, 27-year-old William Angel from Cleveland, was arrested and transported to State Police barracks in Buffalo.
The mother and her five children, ranging from 6-months-old to 7-years-old, were also transported to state police barracks.
Once in custody, an investigation revealed Angel was wanted by police in Cleveland for six counts of kidnapping, two counts of felony assault, and five counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Angel was processed and transported to the Erie County Holding Center to await extradition to Ohio.
The victims remained with state police officials until a relative traveled from Cleveland to bring them home.
