The Bradford Central School District is offering its condolences the day after one of its principals shot and killed a State Trooper.
“I would like to offer our most sincere condolences to the family of Trooper Nicholas Clark. Trooper Clark was a hero, as are all men and women who serve in law enforcement,” Superintendent John Marshall said in a statement.
Marshall declined to release much information about Principal Steven Kiley – who reportedly shot and killed Trooper Nicholas Clark – citing the ongoing investigation.
He noted that the district is cooperating with the investigation.
Around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning, Clark and other Troopers responded to Kiley’s home on Welch Road in the town of Erwin.
State police say they were called to the home by the man’s estranged wife who said she thought he was suicidal and armed.
They say Clark was within a police perimeter when he was shot.
29-year-old Clark, of Troupsburg, was described as a star athlete and a local wrestling champion.
