State Police identify 38-year-old man recovered from Skaneateles Lake

News

State Police have identified a man whose body was recovered from Skaneateles Lake on Wednesday morning.

Troopers say 38-year-old Joshua Sharpe, from LaFayette, was swimming for nearly 10 minutes in the lake when he swam underwater and did not resurface.

Sharpe’s friend attempted to locate him underwater several times, but was unable to find him.

His body was recovered approximately 80 yards from the shore in water 25-feet deep.

Crews responded to the scene off of Shady Bend Lane around 8:30 a.m.

State Police do not believe alcohol was a factor, but they are still investigating the incident.

An autopsy will determine the official cause of death.
