Strong winds over central New York last night caused minor damage and even some power outages. As of 11:00 am Tuesday National Grid was reporting nearly 3,500 customers were without power over central New York. National Grid says the most power outages were in Onondaga county where over 1800 customers were still without power
The winds overnight were as high as 64 mph at Syracuse’s Hancock airport while gusts of 58 mph were recorded in Fulton.
The storm causing this wind was already centered near northern Maine late Tuesday morning and will continue to move away from central New York this afternoon. While still gusty, our winds won’t be nearly as strong as they were overnight.
In addition, temperatures are expected to steadily drop the rest of the day. Even though temperatures were near 50 degrees just before sunrise they should end the day in the low 30s and even upper 20s.
