Syracuse, Auburn and Rome to receive funding to battle ‘zombie homes’

News

NEW YORK STATE (WSYR-TV) — Syracuse is one of many cities, along with Auburn and Rome, getting grants aimed at battling “zombie homes.” Our state is giving $9 million to cities and towns plagued by abandoned properties.

The money can be used to help code enforcement efforts, as well as tracking and monitoring empty properties and boosting legal power to make banks and mortgage companies stick to the law.

This is now the second round of the zombie home program.
