Syracuse had one of the warmest Septembers on record

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - September 2018 will go down as the 10th warmest September on record.

The average monthly temperature according to the National Weather Service was 65.6° which is 3.6° above normal.

What helped Syracuse reach the top 10 was 20 out of the 30 days were above normal. 11 of those 20 days were 80° or higher, 2 of those days were 90° or higher. 

The warmest September ever recorded was in 1961 when the monthly average temperature was 69.5°.

As far as precipitation goes, this wasn't a month to write home to mom about. The airport only recorded 3.25" of precipitation, ranking it the 50th wettest, and almost a half an inch below or drier than average. 

That's a stark contrast to Binghamton who received 8.66" of rain, ranking it the 3rd wettest September of record for them.
