Got an old car seat you want to get rid of?

Target is hosting a car seat trade-in program through September 22.

Here’s how it works:

  • Bring in any unwanted car seats to your local Target store through September 22 and get a coupon for 20 percent off a new car seat, booster seat, car seat base, travel system, stroller, playard high chair, swing, rocker or bouncer from Target stores or Target.com.
  • Target will accept and recycle all types of car seats, including: infant car seats, convertible car seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats, as well as car seats that are expired or damaged.
  • Once you get to the store, bring your used car seat to the drop-off box near Guest Services, and a Target team member will give you your coupon.
  • Guests can get one coupon per seat dropped off. The coupon is eligible through October 6, 2018.

All old car seats will be recycled with partners at Waste Management. Target says that it has done six trade-in events in recent years, collecting 306,000 car seats, diverting 4.6 million pounds of materials from landfills.
