The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of an Oswego man who was killed in an industrial accident in the Southern Tier town of Owego.

Investigators say 48-year-old David Kotwas was delivering scrap metal for Riccelli Enterprises of Syracuse when the incident at Upstate Shredding occurred on Wednesday morning.

They say another vehicle’s trailer was raised in the air and dumping its load when it tipped over and landed on Kotwas’ tractor trailer, pinning the Oswego man inside.

Employees at the scrap yard moved the trailer, and Kotwas was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital in Pennsylvania, where he succumbed to his injuries.
