Valentine’s Day is in full swing across Central New York

Are you still searching for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift?

Hercules Candies in East Syracuse has been making sweet treats since 1910.

NewsChannel 9’s Farah Jadran spent the morning with candy store co-owner Terry Andrianos to find out which candies are the most popular the holiday.

Andrianos says the classic choice is to choose one of the decorative heart-shaped boxes and then fill it with assorted chocolates and truffles. Hercules offers more than 50 types of chocolates that can go inside the boxes.

If your sweetheart really likes chocolate, Andrianos suggests you skip the cardboard box and choose a box made of chocolate instead.

In addition to making items like chocolate-covered potato chips and chocolate-covered pretzels available, Andrianos says there have been a few emergencies on this Valentine’s Morning.

“We’re making emergency batches of chocolate-covered caramels, chocolate-covered cherries,” Andrianos said. “If it’s covered in chocolate, we’re running out of it.”

The store also offers vegan chocolate gifts — another batch of items that Andrianos says, “flies off the shelves.”

The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Valentine’s Day.
