After more than 30 years of sharing the anchor desk with Rod Wood, Carrie Lazarus is ready to take on a new role  as part of the NewsChannel 9 team.

Lazarus announced on Monday that she will be moving out from behind the anchor desk to expand her role in maintaining the “Extraordinary People and Places of Central New York” franchise.

Lazarus will also contribute regularly to NewsChannel 9 through her new series “The Conversation.”

Lazarus says the series will focus on the “wisdom keepers” in the community.

Lazarus and Wood are both members of the Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

Crime reporter and veteran Eleven at 11 anchor Christie Casciano will replace Lazarus at the anchor desk  for NewsChannel 9 First at 4:00 p.m. and NewsChannel 9 at 5:00, NewsChannel 9 at 5:30 and NewsChannel at 6:00.
