Watch: Mayor Miner paints the traditional green stripe

South Salina Street is looking green heading into the Syracuse’s St. Patrick’s Parade.

Mayor Stephanie Miner – who will serve as Grand Marshal during the parade – helped paint the green stripe on Friday morning.

The Painting of the Stripe is a tradition in Syracuse that marks the route the parade will take once is steps off on Saturday.

The parade honors the legacy of the Irish men and women who helped build the city of Syracuse.
