Yankees one win away from World Series

For the second straight series, the New York Yankees are one win away from advancing after trailing in the series 2-0. Masahiro Tanaka pitched 7 innings, allowing only 3 hits while striking out 8 for his first win of the 2017 postseason. Gary Sanchez led the offense going 2-4 with 2 RBI including a solo home run. 

The scoring started with a Greg Bird single to right field to bring in Starlin Castro in the bottom of the second. Aaron Judge would follow that hit with a double down the left field line to score Brett Gardner in the third inning. Sanchez got his first RBI with a single to left field to score Chase Headley in the fifth making it 3-0. Just one batter later Didi Gregorious singled to center to bring home Judge and extend the Yankees lead to 4-0. Sanchez then hit his third home run of the postseason to put the Yanks up 5-0. Tommy Kahnle got the final six outs allowing 1 hit and striking out 1 in the 8th and 9th. 

The series shifts back to Houston with Game 6 set for Friday at 8:08pm ET. Luis Severino will hit the mound for the Yankees against Justin Verlander, who pitched a complete game shutout in Game 2, will pitch for the Astros.
