(WSYR-TV) — Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell is planning to seek the Republican nomination to challenge Rep. Anthony Brindisi in the 22nd District, a source tells NewsChannel 9.
He is expected to formally announce his run for Congress on Tuesday.
Cornwell has spent the last four years as DA and announced earlier this year he was not seeking re-election.
Republicans George Phillips and Franklin Sager have also made known of their plans to run for the 22nd District seat. Last year Rep. Brindisi defeated incumbent Claudia Tenney.
