SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Founder Frank Malfitano says JazzFest’s hiatus will continue until he can secure long-term funding for the event.

Malfitano says he’s “ready to rock” this summer, if funding comes through from a combination of corporate sponsorships and government sources.

Malfitano would like a five-year financial commitment.

Last summer was the first without JazzFest after a years-long tenure on the campus of Onondaga Community College, as the event ran out of funding.

Malfitano also says he’ll always keep the event free, never charging for admission.
