SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The closed-off sidewalk on South State Street, blocking the entrance to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, will reopen later this summer.
Erin called the Your Stories team, asking what’s the problem with the sidewalk that’s been seemingly closed for many months.
A spokesperson for the Onondaga County Executive says that the project was started last year, but once crews got underneath, their plans had to be re-engineered.
Underneath the sidewalk is a vault for fresh air intake, according to the county executive’s office, in which repairs need to be made to the heating system.
The project also includes repairing the concrete and sidewalk joints, which is expected to be wrapped up in about a month.
