SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The popular soccer field at Schiller Park is off limits for the time being, as the city rehabilitates the grass.
A caller to the Your Stories line asked why the field at the city park is fenced off.
NewsChannel 9 reached out to the Syracuse Parks Commissioner for the answer.
Commissioner Jule LaFave tells NewsChannel 9, “Schiller soccer field is fenced off while we rehab the field. The enormously popular field was used heavily by the community and this spring had some bare spots and uneven spots that need to be corrected. The fence was put up to keep players off while we aerate, power seed, fertilize, etc. We hope to have the field opened back up at the end of July, but much of that is dependent on weather conditions.”
