SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — While the official 2020 U.S. Census will be mailed to every American in about six months, some Central New Yorkers are getting something similar already.
Some registered Republican voters have received forms that read “2019 Congressional District Census, commissioned by the Republican Party.” The form they received is not the U.S. Census, but a survey sanctioned by the National Republican Committee with poll-like political questions.
The questions ask people about their support for President Donald Trump and other Republicans.
The survey is a way for Republicans to gauge support for President Trump and ask for donations to fund his reelection campaign.
The form urges recipients to “act now,” and include $15 “to help pay for the cost of processing my Census document” if they can’t afford a bigger donation, ranging from $25 to $1,000.
