OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Drivers across Central New York should expect longer lines at local DMV offices as New Yorkers upgrade to an Enhanced License or Real ID over the next year.
The surge of foot traffic encouraged Oswego County to upgrade its DMV in the City of Oswego with a bigger and beautiful addition that doubles the office’s size.
The DMV’s old four service windows have been increased to eight.
Because the Oswego office needs more workers, the Oswego County Legislature considered closing and taking the staff from the DMV in Fulton.
Instead, the legislature chose otherwise and will keep both open.
That means, until more people are hired, the brand new Oswego DMV isn’t running at full efficiency. The Oswego County Clerk has requested more money in the 2020 budget to hire more people.
