SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Caution tape, twisted fencing, and demolished metal bleachers – that’s what’s left of a Syracuse baseball field after an apparent case of vandalism.
Waking up Monday, neighbors in Eastwood posted about the extensive damage behind Huntington School online and then contacted Syracuse Police.
An investigation revealed that a suspect(s) entered Huntington School, which is currently undergoing construction and proceeded to damage a vending machine, a window, and some computer equipment.
After accessing a construction vehicle parked outside the suspect(s) then proceeded to drive it around the school’s back lot causing damage to bleachers, portable bathrooms, fences, lawn, benches, and a city park sign.
Neighbors said Syracuse Police visited the scene just before noon Monday and marked off the damaged area with caution tape.
“I came down and what I heard was true and what I saw was true. And you know it’s just horrible. You know my son’s been here playing in these fields riding his bike for 14 years now and hopefully, they can clean this up,” said Samuel Dimore.
Additionally, some other construction vehicles had damage including tire damage.
There is no suspect information at this time, but anyone with information is asked to call the Syracuse Police Department at (315) 442-5222.
