SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Just two practices remain in preseason camp and then on Friday, everyone’s attention will turn to the regular season opener, which is set for a week from this Saturday on the road at Liberty.
And there’s no getting around the fact that this is a highly-anticipated season. The program is facing its most optimistic expectations in about 20 years.
Syracuse is ranked in the preseason national poll for the first time since 1998. The Orange is also coming off a 10-win season for the first time in 17 years. There is also plenty of experience and talent on both sides of the ball.
Dino Babers spoke with Steve Infanti Tuesday afternoon. Babers says this team might be the best defense he’s ever had.
