(WSYR-TV) — Former SU recruit Darius Bazley rolled the dice by skipping college and on Thursday night, that gamble paid off. Bazley was drafted 23rd overall by Utah, although the rights to that pick go to Oklahoma City.
As a result, the 19-year-old will be playing on the Thunder next season alongside former Orange star Jerami Grant.
According to the NBA’s rookie pay scale, Bazley is in line to make about $1.6 million in guaranteed money next season and just shy of $1.9 million the following year.
Bazley was a McDonald’s All-American coming out of high school in Cincinnati, but announced that he was skipping college the day after that all-star game.
