SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Fans know they should get to the Dome early, but what else should people be ready for as they make their way up on game day?
A lot of fans coming through the quad, especially off the shuttles, through the quad and either past the Ernie Davis statue or just on the other side of the physics building. The security checkpoint will be out farther from the Dome than you’re used to.
“We’ll have a lot of people around the building guiding people into the facility, making sure they understand the changes that you’ll see with the construction going on,” said Pete Sala, Managing Director of the Carrier Dome.
If you haven’t heard, the Dome roof is being replaced, and right now, two enormous cranes sit on the east and west sides of the dome. But despite all the work, and equipment, every single gate at the Dome will still be open and accessible. A favorite one, Gate B, will have a little different access point for the stairs.
“This is going to be the largest crowd that we’ve had here in decades, which is absolutely fantastic, but fans should give themselves extra time to get to the stadium and with ‘Cuse on the Quad and other activities we have, they come up, there’s going to be plenty of entertainment and fun for them to participate in,” said Syracuse University Athletic Director John Wildhack.
The parking lots open at 3 p.m., shuttles start at 4 p.m., and the Dome gates open at 5:30 p.m. The clear bag policy is still in effect, and for this game, you can bring two water bottles into the Dome.
Sala said, “We’ve also created a little bit of a perimeter outside the facility for people to maybe move around a little bit outside the facility once they’ve been through the screening, which makes a nice, nice area for people to maybe go outside for some fresh air. We know it’s going to be stuffy in the building.”
But hopefully rockin’. If you’re not going, watch it on NewsChannel 9.
