SYRACUSE, N.Y. (SYRACUSE ATHLETICS) –
Syracuse will face Michigan in the ACC/Big Ten Women’s Basketball Challenge on Dec. 5, in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) leads the challenge 9-0-3 and is 4-0-2 since the Orange joined the league in 2013.
Syracuse is 3-3 all-time in the ACC/B1G Challenge and is 0-3 in road games most recently losing, 72-68, at No. 20 Minnesota in 2018.
The Orange and Wolverines matchup is the fifth in program history with Michigan leading the all-time series 4-0. The two last met on March 28, 2010 when Michigan defeated Syracuse 78-52 in the WNIT.
‘Cuse posted a 25-9 record last season en route to earning its highest seed in NCAA Tournament history (No. 3) and hosting the first and second rounds for the second time in four years. Michigan was 22-12 last year, including a 13-1 mark at home. The Wolverines also reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they lost 71-50 to No. 5 Louisville.
The Orange return four starters including All-American Tiana Mangakahia who became the all-time leader in career assists (591) last season. As a team, Syracuse posted the second-best single season scoring average (77.2), three-point field goal percentage (.343) and had the third-most three-pointers made in a season with 317.
