Miami scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to take its first lead since early in the second period but the Orange grabbed it back on a Drummond 3-pointer with just under eight minutes left to begin a 18-8 run to lead by nine after a Cooper 3-pointer with a minute remaining. Beatrice Mompremier scored 27 points with 10 rebounds, Emese Hof added a season-high-tying 25 points and Mykea Gray had 13 for the fourth-seeded Hurricanes (24-8).
Syracuse took its first lead early in a 31-point second quarter and extended it to 13, 50-37, by halftime. The lead was 15 midway through the third quarter when the Orange began their comeback sparked by six straight points by Mompremier, and Syracuse was within five to start the fourth quarter.
The Orange will now face the winner of top-seeded Notre Dame and 8th seeded North Carolina at noon on Saturday.
