CICERO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Tradition is nothing new for Brandi Feeney, following in the footsteps of her mom and aunts who also suited up for the Cicero-North Syracuse softball program.
Feeney, a senior, has excelled in the green and blue. For the third-straight year, she leads the team in RBI, and like last season she's hitting over .400.
And as a catcher, she's been calling the shots.
"Coach Beebe taught me hot to call a game when I was young and we always agreed on the same pitches, so he just had me call the game because that way the other team can't pick the signs," Feeney said.
Feeney isn't just a standout in the softball field, she was also a captain on the girls swimming and basketball teams.
"I've been a three-sport athlete my whole career since 7th grade, so I'm used to having the time management, having to go home to do homework or do it whenever I can. So I like it because sports keep me busy, I'd be bored if I didn't play sports," she says.
When she looks back on her high school sports career she'll be happy with the success she had, but nothing is driving her more than the chance at the state title.
"It's definitely motivation. Yeah, a sectional title is nice and we definitely want to go back and win our third in-a-row, but our mind is on the state title and that's our goal this year. And we're going to do whatever it takes to make it happen," Feeney said.
