Athlete of the Week: Cassi Carroll

Athlete of the Week

From the moment she touched a basketball, she knew it was waht she really wanted to do.

Weedsport’s Cassi Carroll is NewsChannel 9’s “Athlete of the Week.”

Carroll became the fifth girl in her school’s history to score 1,000 points and is currently third on the all-time scoring list.

“I really just wanted to win and I think my drive to win and play as long as I can allowed me to play more games. And with the help of my teammates and stuff I was just able – it just happen to come along,” Carroll says.

Her team is heading to the Class C semifinals and her fellow senior teammates are excited.

“We know its our last season, we have nothing left, there’s no next year so its now or never,” she said.

Carroll is also a multi-sport athlete.

She runs cross country and track for Weedsport and says her athletic career has helped her in the classroom.

Carroll plans to go into the nursing field in college later this year.

“A couple of my family members have been sick so I spent a lot of time in hospitals growing up so I just kinda fell in love with the atmosphere and what the nurses give to people. I just want to repay that,” she said.
