She spends her falls on the soccer field, springs on the softball diamond, but in the winter Lexi Durocher does something a little different. She’s a competitive skiier.
“My mom skied when she was younger, so it was kind of obvious I was going to get into skiing,” she said.
At the 39th Annual Empire State Winter Games, Durocher picked up her first gold medal in slalom skiing.
“It’s really awesome. I mean practicing every day for three hours, going to races, missing school, it’s really great for that to finally pay off,” she said.
The Fabius-Pompey sophomore is now turning her attention to softball as she and the Falcons try to make their second-straight trip to the state final four.
“It’s going to be tough, we lost a lot of seniors last year, all very good seniors. But we have a lot of talent coming up, so I’m hoping that we can just build off last year, train hard, practice hard. I think we’ll do really well this season,” she said.
