Athlete of the Week: Solvay’s Brock Bagozzi

Athlete of the Week

Solvay Junior quarterback Brock Bagozzi was destined for football.

“I grew up with it. My dad did it. Everyone did it in my family,” says Brock Bagozzi.

Bagozzi set the Solvay record for passing yards in a game, throwing for 420 yards and 1 touchdown in a 20-13 loss to Solvay.

“I was just thinking, keep slinging the ball around,” said Bagozzi.

Through five weeks, Solvay is 2-3 and Bagozzi is fourth in Section III with 912 yards and he also has 5 passing touchdowns as well as 3 rushing touchdowns. Bagozzi is only a junior but he has embraced the full leadership role of a quarterback.

“He’s a leader on the basketball court, he’s a leader on the baseball field. Over the summer during our seven on seven tournaments and during our summer workouts he’s emerged as leader on our team. And if that’s the definition of a quarterback then there you go,” said Solvay football coach Todd Lisi.
