Solvay senior Sabrina Garnett is headed to the state qualifiers in the weight throw for the second year in-a-row, and this year could be the year she makes it to states.
This season she qualified for sectionals in both the weight throw and shot put for the second year in-a-row. She’s made sectionals in shot put for three years in-a-row in the outdoor season.
“I just go in and not think about it, and just go and throw as hard as I can,” Garnett says.
Garnett has autism. But she doesn’t let that impact her in meets, or in the classroom.
In fact, she’s been an honor roll student every year.
Whether she makes states or not doesn’t matter. She’s just happy to enjoy this final season with her teammates.
“I mean it’s just fun and to be there for everybody and cheer them on when they want to try to win and all that,” Garnett says. “I just try to make everybody feel like they’re a winner.”
