Athlete of the Week: Tyla Cutrie

Athlete of the Week

For the third-straight year, Tyla Cutrie and the Chittenango Bears girls volleyball team is Class C section champs.

Cutrie led Chittenango this season with 280 kills and 33 blocks. For her career, she’s racked up 911 kills and 137 blocks.

“I love playing middle because you get to block everywhere,” she said. “Like no matter where the ball is being set on the other side, you get to block. And then hitting, you have so many options where you can run plays and stuff for hitting.”

Since Cutrie has been a member of the Bears, the team has gone 68-5.

Now, a senior, is proud of her career. She plans to transition to beach volleyball in college and will play for UNC Wilmington next year.

” … I love indoor, but beach is so much more fun and I love the sun,” she said.
