The winter high school sports season is coming to a close and Central New York brought home a few different state titles. One of those titles belong to the Skaneateles Lakers Boys Hockey team.
“It’s important to the community, it’s been important since I was born and it’s definitely a special moment,” coach Mitch Major said.
The team dominated the state championship beating Queensbury 6-1 to claim the school’s fourth state title.
In five postseason games the Lakers outscored opponents 19-4. The team finished with a 22-1-2 record on the year.
Six seniors leaving the team this season, but the returning players will always cherish just how special the 2019 team was.
