(WSYR-TV) — After a dramatic overtime win yesterday, the Baldwinsville girls fell short of winning the team’s first state title since 2000.
The Bees lost 10-8 to Section-XI’s Northport (21-1) in the Class A final on Saturday at SUNY Cortland. Baldwinsville was also Class A runner-up in 2013.
Baldwinsville’s Jenna Pastore opened up the scoring with a free position goal in the first minute of the game. Northport responded with three-straight goals to take a 3-1 lead.
Hannah Johnson and Emma Gebhardt scored back-to-back goals to tie things up 3-3 before the two teams traded goals to close out the first. The Bees went into halftime down two goals.
Pastore once again scored early in the second half to get Baldwinsville on the board. Both teams had 3 second-half goals.
Pastore finished with 3 goals for the Bees. Both Johnson and Gebhardt had 2 goals, Emma States had 1 goal, and Katherine Pascale added an assist. Goalie Jordan Roy recorded four saves for the Bees.
