SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – The college baseball season doesn’t end with the College World Series.

Here in New York, college baseball players from around the country participate in the New York Collegiate Baseball League each summer.

The Syracuse Salt Cats are one of the 10 teams in the NYCBL this season with players ranging from the West Coast to right here in CNY.

“We got them as far away as Portland, Oregon, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and all parts in between. It’s a good mix of players with a very good mix of talent, ” says Syracuse Salt Cats Manage Mike Martinez.

Every player in the league just wants the opportunity to get better and try to get to the next level after college.

“I am just trying to face the best competition that I can. I am just trying to get better. I don’t want to hold anything back. Looking back on my career, I want to be able to say that I did everything in my power to be the best player that I can. By being in this league, I think I am doing that. Taking the right steps forward,” says Syracuse Salt Cats Pitcher James Gamboa.
