(ROCHESTER, N.Y. – WSYR-TV) — A magical run ends with history as LaFayette wins the Class D State Championship in an overtime thriller.
The LaFayette boys lacrosse team took down Section-I’s Briarcliff 9-8 in O-T for the third title in the programs history and first in Class D. The other two championships came in 2003 and 2005 in Class C.
Senior Reid Jackowski scored the game-winning goal off an assist from junior Dylan Lyons to secure the win for LaFayette.
Mason Homer led all scorers with a hat trick. Jackowski netted two goals as did Zach Delaney.
Delaney scored the first goal of the day in a back and forth first half that saw the Lancers down 4-3 at halftime. With 9:49 to play in the fourth, the Lancers trailed 8-5. LaFayette rallied with three straight goals to send the game to overtime including the game-tying and game winner goals from Jackowski.
Jackowski not only scored the game-winner, but he also scored the game-tying goal to force overtime.
