(WSYR-TV) — It’s become a coveted job in the Division II ranks. Le Moyne has produced numerous Division I head coaches — not just John and Pat Beilein, but the likes of Scott Hicks and Dave Paulsen also used the Dolphins men’s basketball team as a springboard to bigger things.
There’s no doubt that Pat Beilein gave this program the jump-start it needed, guiding the Dolphins to three-straight trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Not it’ll be up to Nate Champion to keep things rolling.
Champion was a star player at LeMoyne helping to end a 17-year tournament drought in 2014.
He hasn’t been a coach that long, he spent the last two years as an assistant at Florida Southern following one year as a volunteer at Stonehill.
The goal has always been to one day become a head coach, a dream that has now been realized.
