Syracuse shakes off slow start in season-opening win over Ohio

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) –

The Syracuse women’s basketball team tipped off their season with a 66-54 win over Ohio.

Syracuse started slow, as Ohio built a 10-point lead after one. The 21st ranked Orange came alive in the second quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 21-10.

SU would pull away in the second half, limiting Ohio to just eight points in the final quarter.

Kiara Lewis led the Orange, pouring in 16 points to go alone with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Gabrielle Cooper and freshman Taleah Washington added 10 points each in the Orange win over the Bobcats.

Syracuse dominated on the glasses out rebound Ohio 57-32.

SU returns to action next Tuesday, November 12th, against Maryland Eastern Shore. It will be an 8 p.m. tip inside the Carrier Dome.
