Sean McDermott did not wait for the questions Wednesday. He started his weekly press conference by saying he wanted to “get in front” of the Lesean McCoy trade rumors.
Then, he really didn’t say much of anything at all.
“LeSean is one of our better players. I thought he had a good game the other day,” McDermott said. “We get calls all the time, incoming calls happen all the time. Brandon [Beane] and I talk a lot, and I won’t go into any more detail than that.”
McDermott said Beane is the man who “filters” the calls. Despite a few attempts from reporters to follow up, McDermott would not budge.
“If you just want to hear the same reply, I’ll give you the same reply,” McDermott said. “I respect where you’re coming from and the jobs you have to do, respect where I’m coming from. He’s a valuable member of our football team, and I’m going to leave it at that.”
McDermott would not confirm or deny if the Eagles placed a call to the Bills.
There is no rush to make a deal. The Eagles play Thursday this week and could not, realistically, use McCoy in their lineup until October 21st.
The NFL trade deadline is October 30th.
