While NASCAR fans are having a great time, why not let your taste buds have a taste of the action? What’s competing- the food, where for some choosing a winner can be a challenge.
Racing fans such as Joe Norman were indecisive.
“I don’t know, I haven’t really looked at the menu yet, but I’m sure it’s all pretty good,” Norman said. “There’s always pizza, burgers and stuff, but it looks like they have some healthier stuff so I might be leaning towards the turkey wrap.”
But at least you won’t go hungry. You’ll see your traditional concession stands pretty much everywhere.
“There’s food everywhere, I mean they don’t have to go very far,” Tyler Glynn, a concessions manager at Watkins Glen International, said. “There’s food at every grand stand so it’s simple, it’s close and, you know, nothing better than eating some fries and watching the NASCAR race at the Glen.”
But for the bold, how about perogies- dough dumplings with onions on top, or a Coca-Cola burger- a beef patty, cheese, bacon and Coca- Cola sauce for those who can’t get enough of the soft drink.
Then, there’s “the Glen Dog, it’s excellent, you know, It’s got the pretzel bun, with mac and cheese,” Glynn said. “I mean, you have your adulthood and childhood all in one little combination so it can’t get much better than that.”
It’s a dish so good that Glynn recommends it. And something that this reporter had to try- and enjoyed.
