Grow out that pompadour and come on down to the 10th annual Barber-Q Sunday, August 4 in Camillus!
To celebrate a whole decade of giving back, Saving Face Barbershop will be donating funds raised at the event to two local charities: the Tim Green Tackling ALS Team and the Carrie Lazarus Extraordinary Talent Fund.
“We figured we’d cover both sides of the globe,” says Linda Ruckdaschel, owner and event coordinator of the Bridal Connection. That way, “if some people didn’t know about one but knew about the other, they would be more encouraged to attend.”
Last year, this event had risen a whopping $5500 for Helping Hounds. This year, the barbers are hoping we can help raise $7000 to split between the two charities.
Haircuts are free! “First come first serve,” says Anthony Nappa, owner of the Saving Face Barbershop, “or you can preregister on TheBarberQ.com. It’s an efficient system.”
In addition, there will also be food and music, pony-rides and a dunk-tank. “We’ve got some awesome prize drawings, raffles, a silent auction,” adds Ruckdaschel, “we’ve got shopping [items] for people that are just kind of meandering around, there’s kids’ arts and crafts, and Home Depot is coming with a kids’ DIY.”
And the barbers are more than happy to cut any type of hair. “I haven’t really found anything I can’t [cut],” says barber Corey Schumacher.
Local vendors wanted, too! The more the merrier.
So head on over to the Camillus Municipal Building on West Genesee Street on Sunday, August 4 to contribute to a good cause and have fun doing it.
