Conquer Your Fear of Heights and Rappel Down a Building to Support Abused Children at McMahon Ryan

Uncategorized

Gather up your courage and use it to rappel down 10 stories all for abused children in Onondaga County.

On Saturday, August 17th, brave supporters of McMahon Ryan will have the opportunity to go “Over The Edge” at One Park Place in downtown Syracuse.

Donations from the event funds services for thousands of abused children in Onondaga County each year. McMahon Ryan offers child victims of abuse free services from police, prosecutors, social workers, advocates, medical and mental health professionals, and more.

“We see over 1,500 children that come to the center in a year, so fundraising is really important for us,” said Colleen Merced, Executive Director of the McMahon Ryan Center.

Last year’s inaugural “Over the Edge” fundraiser was a huge success bringing in 85 thousand dollars.

No experience is required, Over the Edge has a staff of professionals with an outstanding safety record who will provide the necessary expertise and equipment for the event. Each participant is asked to raise at least $1,000.

If you’re afraid of heights you can still participate in the event without rappelling. Consider becoming a sponsor, donating to someone rappelling, cheer on the participants or enjoy family-friendly activities.
