CICERO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Investigators are looking into what caused two houses to catch fire in Cicero on Wednesday morning.
The fire started just after 11:15 a.m. on Lakeshore Road between Tartan Drive and North Button Road, completely knocking down a garage. It then spread to the house next door.
Firefighters say a postal worker first noticed the fire and called 911. No one was home at the time.
“Daytime fires are really rough. It’s gotten a lot worse the last couple of years. A lot of people are at work so we’ve got a lot less manpower and we’re calling a lot of other departments from farther and farther out,” Cicero Fire Department Chief George Barrett said.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have photos of the fire to share them.
The Red Cross is helping six people from one home and two from another home with temporary housing, food and clothing.
